Need advice on dog issue

My daughter her husband adopted a small mixbreed male terrier about 14 months ago from a shelter. He has had some issues with peeing in their apartment when left alone even for a short time and the problem is getting worse. He has been checked by a vet has a clean bill of health. Its not like they dont take him outside regularly. The last time this happened they walked him he relieved himself and then they left for a short shopping trip came home to find he had piddled on the curtains. He seems to be doing it to get even for being left alone though he doesnt do it ALL the time.

Please dont suggest crating they tried that and he went wild inside the crate to the point of almost injuring himself. I would appreciate any input of what they could try if you have had the problem yourself or can speak from a veterinary point of view. Thanks.

Im sick of it. Im sick of the genetic health problems they continue breeding. Im tired of having to take in litters of puppies people left at the front of my salon and bottle feed them. Im tired of going to animal control every week and seeing how many dogs are going to die at the hands of backyard breeding. I sick of people not spayingneutering then having litters and giving them away and they end up in animal testing or dog fighting. WHy is it so hard to just breed responsiblySo I put this question forth.

And to the buyers of these dogs. Was getting the dog a little cheaper worth the risk of thousand of dollars of health problems later in life that you probably wont pay to fix anyway Or was it worth the terrible treatment of the parents who are locked up all day never receive vet care and die because of over breeding Do you like poor quality dogs that dont meet breed standards and have shady temperaments Please tell me Well I suppose you all were right. In a perfect world we could make all of the backyard breeder and puppymillers this and hope maybe we could get a change.

The only thing I know we all can agree on is that it has to stop and I applaud you all for your efforts in stopping this unethical practicewow the reason we cant do anything is because of people like you. The last dog we had wasnt so healthy because he was overweight and I think if we had fed him better he would still be with us today. Now that we have a new pup in the family I dont want to make the same mistake. I want my puppy to be the healthiest as possible and I realize that it begins with proper diet. I currently feed my dog Canidae plus healthy treats like veggies or organic dog biscuits to supplement her diet. It angers no ENFURIATES me when I catch my parents feeding her junk treats like Cheese Puffs Processed Cheese Light Bread Potato Chips Icecream Pizza.

When I tell my parents that I dont want her to be fed that junk they get on my case and act like it wont hurt her. They think I am being difficult and dont know what I am talking about. It was a battle to even to my MOM to agree feeding her Canidae as she wanted to go with Purina ugh How do I get them to stop what they are doing and take OUR puppies health seriouslyThanks Shanna Showing them that information would sound like a really good idea. What I would do is search the internet and find articles about how a bad diet affects a dog. Explain to your parents how hard it was to lose your last dog earlier than you think you had to and ask them to help you keep this dog healthy. I purchased a puppy from a breeder 2 months ago today she had surgery to correct a very serious neck problem atlanto axial subluxation. My husband and I are breaking the bank and making major sacrifices to pay for this surgery with diagnostic testing and surgery the bill is over 5000. When we buy or adopt an animal we are committed to its health. Should I notify the breeder and should I expect a refund of the purchase price even though the health guarantee states that I have no right to this says I must send the pup back to get my money back which is sick because they would just euthanize her.

The diagnostic testing alone was well over the price of the dog. It is not a genetic problem it is a malformation that is extremely rare my vet said it just happens sometimes. Nandina This is not the same question I have decided to tell the breeder but was wondering if I should ask for the money back for the dog after my friend who used to breed champion golden retrievers said she would definetely refund the cost of the puppy even though I didnt send it back if it were her. I had that deaf dog for almost 17 and he was HIGHLY trained by hand signals and flashlight. Usually in dals and most certainly at THAT time they culled the deaf they would never want anyone to know their line produced deafies though statistically they will all produce deafies.

First of all Im poor. Ive got a parttime job and am in grad school. Im a big fan of holistic medicine and have often given my dog and myself herbs and homeopathy and things that have made a big difference in his health. Hes 13 years old and recently hes developed some bladder problems. Yesterday he actually started peeing in the house which is really unusual for him. He gets a number of kidney supporting herbssupplements such as cranberry. When I started giving this to him it seemed to improve a lot but now its gotten bad again.

From my preliminary research the holistic vets in the area are expensive and dont have immediate One I found that sounded good Id need to wait about 2 weeks for an appointment. Do you think that given the symptoms I described it would be OK to wait a couple weeks to have him seen by a vet2. Do you think that a holistic vet would be a good match for his symptoms3. Do you think that I should get blood work urine tests or whatever other tests needs to be done at our regular vet immediately and then go to the holistic vet when they have an opening I really dont want to do this because that would mean two office visits to two vets and just stepping into a vets office is expensive.

That conventional vets can rightAnd the vet Im looking at also uses conventional medicine. It just seems to me like Ive got more options with a holistic vet. It isnt the problem of money that makes me wait 2 weeks. Its the problem that the earliest appointment I can get with a holistic vet is in 2 weeks. Majestikmoose I dont know where you live but where I live there seems to be far more people wanting holistic care than doctors to provide it even though there are a dozen doctors in my area. So as much as I dont like it the law of supply and demand says that they should be more expensive than a regular vet.
